Details:
American Legion Post 386 will be serving fish sandwiches, hamburgers, hot
dogs, barbecue, cheese fries and drinks. Other vendors will be serving funnel
cakes, elephant ears, cotton candy, lemon shakeups and ice cream. Also,
other local organizations will be offering games for the kids and the “young
at heart”.
Virden’s three-day
celebration starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday with the bingo tent sponsored by the
Virden High School volleyball team, as well as carnival rides. The 2008 Little
Miss/Mister contest takes place at 7 p.m. on the bandstand.
Thursday, the bingo
tent and rides return at 6 p.m., with a cakewalk at 7 p.m. The band Hoosier
Daddies will provide live music on the bandstand, starting at 7 p.m. The
American Legion cakewalk is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Friday festivities
begin with the annual kids’ races. The bingo tent reopens at 4 p.m., followed
by rides opening at 5 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., Miss Virden will be crowned at the
2008 Miss Virden Queen Pageant on the bandstand. The American Legion cakewalk
is scheduled for 7 p.m.
